What can I do to prepare for the demonstrations?

It is important to be prepared and informed about your legal options so that you can make informed decisions as you practice creative resistance. Here are some things that you can do to prepare for the demonstrations:

  • Be prepared to take a proactive approach in regards to legal support when planning your participation in this action. This means educating yourself and your group, staying informed, and taking responsibility to ensure that you remain safe and vigilant during the demonstrations.

  • Attend a Know Your Rights training, preferably before you arrive in Miami.

  • Organize someone in your affinity group to be a legal support person. You can find info on how to do this here.

  • Educate yourself and your affinity group on your rights, the court system, and your legal options before you come to Miami. You can view documents containing this information here. Please be sure to read the MAD Street Guide posted at the above link, as it contains information related to Miami-specific legal concerns.

  • Please volunteer in the legal office, assist in jail support after the action, and/or act as a legal observer. Email us for more info: legal [at] stopftaa.org
